Camera/Vlog Needs.

So for those of you who did not read my last blog post, I've recently thought about saving up for a flip cam or a Sony Handy-Cam CX150. This has also made me think about downloading an editing program on to my computer. I guess it’s a good thing wanting to better my vlogging conditions. Although it will take a bit to get used to having to spend several hours (possibly) both shooting and editing my videos, it will be a nice change for those of you who watch my videos.

I didn’t really know how much time vloggers spent making those two to three minute videos we all watch. Just watching Hank Green of the vlogbrothers, spend one and a half hours just editing one video. Watching Kristina Horner of italktosnakes and kristinahorner, spend quite a lot of time just finding the right lighting for a video. Sometimes in other’s vlog’s, I hear them say that they spend hours shooting, and editing this video, I almost always thought they were exaggerating. Hours on a three minute video? No way. But it turns out to be true. When I started out watching vlogs, I thought it was these random people talking to their camera’s for 3 minutes, and then spending 5 minutes editing it. But boy was I wrong. Hours. Hours for just sitting in front of your camera talking.

Recently I’ve had people at school, people I don’t even talk to, come up and tell me that they’ve watched my videos. When they say this, for some reason, I get embarrassed. I have no idea what to say. So I usually say, ‘Yeah.’ or ‘Cool!’. I guess because I don’t get many views, and I’m not what you would call “well known”, I feel embarrassed to talk about my vlogs at school. Even though I could get views that way. Afraid of what people might think. They’re just a random video (no editing), of me talking.

A lot of people thing vlogging is stupid. ‘It’s just a person talking to their camera!’ They say. Or ‘It’s not even entertaining!’. But vlogging is a lot more than that. It’s like a way to talk to people. Get to know new friends. And, some people can even make a living with these so called “wastes of time”.

Sorry to go all into it. But this has been on my mind, and putting in a video would take for ever. A five minute long video (because I do not edit, which sucks) of me talking about vlogging would interest very few people. Anyways!

DFTBA
